1 for the General Exhibitions calendar AND another for our Matariki/Puanga Exhibitions.
Both opportunities are for Te Ara Toi Gallery.

Te Ara Toi Gallery
3 Market Lane, Te Aro
Between Te Waimapihi and Moturoa Streams, where the whenua once met the waters of Te Whanganui-a-Tara, sits Te Ara Toi Gallery.
Located within Toi Aro Arts Centre on the floor known as Te Whare a Nuku, Te Ara Toi is a contemporary exhibition space shaped by a commitment to Te Taiao, connection with Mana Whenua, and the creative communities of this city.
For our 2027 exhibition programme, we are seeking artists whose practices are bold, collaborative, and deeply connected to people and place.
We are particularly interested in proposals that create meaningful exchange across generations of practice: emerging artists seeking mentorship, established artists ready to share knowledge, and creative partnerships already grounded in relationship and reciprocity.
Our gallery's moveable walls and adaptable layout welcome a wide range of artistic approaches. We encourage applications that challenge convention, invite participation, and create opportunities for community connection.

For the first time, Toi Aro Arts Centre is specifically seeking Expressions of Interest for our Matariki slots for 2027 and/or 2028.
The Matariki exhibitions are required to reflect the national Matariki kaupapa with intentional engagement with Mana Whenua. Although the annual national kaupapa is not available to the public yet, strong applicants will reflect an understanding of where to find this information or how to find guidance on exploring themes of Matariki.

a four-week exhibition
$700 material fee
